Thanks Lizzie!

Thank you to Lizzie's family for sending us a delicious treat for Kk!  Lizzie took home our Monkey Mystery Backpack.  It is always exciting to see what our friends bring in the backpack for the letter we are learning.  Today was extra exciting and delicious.  Thank you for the Kit Kats and Kisses.

We love you Lizzie!

Our Sight Word Video!

We created a SIGHT WORD video today to share with you.  We can't wait to show you our friends and read our sight words to you!
Now we have the chance to practice our sight words at home with our friends! Have your child go through the video and tell you the names of their friends and then have them view it again as they say the sight word their friend is sharing.
How fun!

Freezing Temperatures!

We have had fun learning about and experimenting with freezing temperatures!  Yesterday we learned that the "magic number" on the thermometer to make things freeze is 32.  We talked about the temperature of our body  and the temperature of the air outside.  We learned that high numbers usually mean hotter temperatures and lower numbers mean colder temperatures. We experimented with the freezing temperatures Monday night!

Before we went home on Monday, we each chose a container to put water in and take outside. Some of us even added objects to the container to see what would happen.

Then we came to school on Tuesday morning and could not wait to see what had happened overnight! The temperature said it was 16 degrees when we came to school.  Did that mean our containers would be frozen?

 "Hey, they are frozen!"

We even learned that we could form "clouds" with our warm breath.  The warm air from our mouths mixed with the cold air and created water vapor that we could see.

We brought our containers inside to observe and then predicted what would happen!
We were right....................it melted.

We learned that the temperature in our room was above the magic freezing number (32) so our ice melted.

We love experimenting and learning!

Happy New Year 2014!

It was great to come back to school, see all of our friends and begin our New Year!  We first took time to share news about our holiday and then we spent time reviewing and focusing on our skills.  We are off to a fantastic start.

Check out our New Year resolutions:

Paul...Be good and don't fight with my baby brother.
Audrina...Be good. Listen to my mom.
Esther...Go to the park and be nice to people.
Isaac... Help people out. I would help them cross the road.
