Remember that we will be celebrating Easter at Carver on Friday, April 18th! Please remember to send 12 plastic eggs filled with candy or surprises as well as a basket or container for our hunt. Please have your child's name on their container. We are also asking for $1 to cover the cost of refreshments after our hunt. Parents are invited and we would welcome any help with hiding the eggs. Our hunt will be at 9am. Children may be signed out after our hunt and refreshments. They are counted present for the day if they remain at school until 9:30am. We look forward to a HOPPY, Happy TIME!

EGG-citing EGG DROP EXPERIMENT
This week we learned about OVIPAROUS animals or creatures that are hatched from an egg. We were fascinated to learn that all birds, insects, snakes, turtles, frogs, fish and even dinosaurs belong to this group.Today
was an EGG-stra EGG-citing day. It was the day of our EGG DROP experiment. We
each had a chance to drop an egg (in a container of our choice) from the
announcers stand at the baseball field. Each container was carefully designed
to hopefully keep the egg inside from breaking. We had lots of creative
containers! By experimenting, kids get
a chance to think creatively and practically to solve a problem. Children
take away practical knowledge to solve a similar problem in the future or
develop creative solutions to other problems by using the same logical process.
What fun we had experimenting and learning!

The insides of the containers were the most creative! We had teddy bear stuffing as well as peanut butter, oatmeal, bubble wrap, cotton, paper towels, Easter grass and even water balloons to protect our eggs!
After showing and telling about our container, it was time to drop our eggs!
We had to very carefully climb to the top of the stand.

Oops! No.
But it was great fun!
We had a great time experimenting with our eggs today! Thanks to all who helped your child make a container for our experiment. We had a fun time learning!

We Love Bugs!
We loved looking for insects to put in our INSECT ZOO!
Lizzie brought a butterfly that she later released on the playground!
CJ brought a beautiful beetle.
One day we discovered how it felt to be a caterpillar wrapped snugly in a cocoon or chrysalis.
It was fun to paint beautiful symmetrical butterflies!
On Friday, we put our INSECT knowledge to the test to create our own INSECT! They had to have two antennae, three body parts and six legs! We now have insects crawling all over our classroom!

The Circus Comes to Town!
The Carson and Barnes Circus is in LOCKHART today. We were so excited to get to visit the circus grounds and take a peek behind the scenes of the circus as they prepare for today's shows. Circus times are 4:30 and 7:30pm. Your child will be bringing home a free ticket to attend the performance.
We had a great time visiting the circus grounds! We saw a llama, a camel, pygmy goats, a zeonkey ( a cross between a zebra and a donkey), and a pygmy hippo. One of the circus ladies told us about each animal.
The pygmy hippo was our favorite!

We also watched some future circus performers practice their acts. We know that if you practice at something you get better and better!
Ta duh! How cool they are!
We loved hearing the elephant trainer tell us about the elephants! We learned that they weigh around 10,000 pounds! We learned about their skin and also how the hair on their body helps let them know what is around them.
The elephant even showed us one of his tricks.
