Twelve Days Until Christmas!

We can't believe there are only 12 days until Christmas!  We have had a busy week learning the letter Rr and working with numbers 0-15 as well as practicing for our Christmas Extravaganza.  Thursday we painted our Rudolf t-shirts!  Thank you to Mrs. Ramos, Mrs. Ramsey and Mrs. Staton for offering your help with this fun project! The shirts look fabulous and the children are so proud!

Our Visit to Dr. Eugene Clark Library!

Today we were treated to a visit to the Dr. Eugene Clark Library in downtown Lockhart.  We were so excited to ride the bus over to hear a wonderful Christmas story presented by Mrs. Bertha and her assistant. We loved seeing the beautiful decorations and feeling the spirit of Christmas at the library!
We were so excited to board the bus and head to the library!
Riding the bus with our friends is so fun!

We loved hearing the Christmas Story "La Noche Buena" in english and in spanish.
We even had a chance to climb the spiral staircase to get a Christmas view from the second floor.
We had an exciting morning at the library.
Excitement is in the air and everywhere!

Rr is for Reading Rudolphs!

Letter Rr is for Rudolph and reading!  We learned the letter Rr  today and used its sound to read words like rimratran, and rib!  We heard the story of Rudolph and decided that he needed to be able to read in order to help Santa.  We made antlers with words that we read to Mrs. Daily. We then had our noses painted RED!
Christmas and Reading is really exciting!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

We have been busy learning and getting ready for Christmas this week!  We learned the letters Nn and Bb and used then to read new words like: ban, bit, bam, nat, nit and Nan. Some of us are also doing a fantastic job writing words by using the sounds/letters we hear in them. We also worked on the "teenage" numerals: 13,14,15,16,17.18 and 19!  AND we created fun Christmas decorations for our room and hall.
 We loved painting Christmas trees...
...and candy canes!
We're as busy as Rudolf getting ready for Christmas!

Don't forget that we will be painting Christmas t-shirts next Thursday, Dec. 12th.  If you would like to help out with this fun project, please be here around 8:30 that morning.
Also you will want to be sure and mark your calendar for our CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA performances. Showtimes will be Dec. 18th at 9 a.m and 1:30 pm in the Carver cafeteria. You won't want to miss the show!

Christmas Activities!

We have many fun activities planned for this Christmas season!  Please read below to see what we will be doing!

1.       We will be visiting the Lockhart Library on Dec.11th. We will be leaving our school around 9:30 and returning by 11 am. Parents are welcome to join us.  .
2.      We will be painting Christmas T-shirts.  Please have your child bring a short  or long sleeved solid t shirt…if they would like to paint one.  We will be painting these on Thursday, Dec. 12th.  New or used is OK.  Green, red, or white works best for our glittery Rudolf T-shirts!  If you would like to help out with painting these, on the morning of Dec. 12th please let me know.
3.      Please remember our Christmas Extravaganza performances will take place on Dec. 18th at 9:00am and 1:30 pm.  You won’t want to miss it. Everyone is welcome!
4.      We will be having a Christmas Breakfast/Brunch on
Dec. 20th around 8:30 am.  We will have a “grown-up” style
Party.  Children are asked to bring a goodie to share with
the class.  This day is one of the three days that we do
not  have to follow Food of Minimal Nutrition Guidelines. …so all foods are allowed.
 3.       We will be making a Christmas stocking  for our Christmas                     Gift/Surprises.  Please decorate the sack (stocking)that you will find in your child's homework folder today and have your child return it by Dec. 13th. Each child will then need to purchase or make something that can be shared with his/her classmates during Gift Week (Dec. 16th-20th) .These items will be placed in the stockings/sacks during Gift Week.  On Party Day, Dec. 20th, all students will have a Gift Stocking all the same!
     Examples for gifts might be:
-          a package of stickers-each child is given 1 or 2
-          a package of markers- each child is given 1
-          handmade goodies, by the parent or child
-          handmade ornaments or cards
-          small toys, favors, games
-          coupons
-          candy
-          you might have a more creative idea…anything is fine!

-No other gifts will be needed.
-Mrs. Daily’s class has 22 students.

Thanks for all of your help in making this an extra special time of year!

Elf Magic!

We were so excited to return from our Thanksgiving holidays to find the December calendar, waiting for us, full of many exciting days to come.  We were EXTRA excited that Lizzie and her mom brought us an Elf on the Shelf to share those fun days with our class!
We named our elf GEORGE and placed him on the shelf where he can watch over our classroom and report to Santa each night.  We want to be sure that we are very nice so we will not get on Santa's naughty list!
We loved reading the Elf on the Shelf story and we can't wait to show him that he will have lots of good things to report to Santa. Thank you Lizzie and family! We love our Elf on the Shelf!

We even made our own life size elves to decorate our room.  We also translated our names into "Elf!"
We then used our inventive spelling to write what we would like to have Santa bring us for Christmas!
Christmas is such an exciting time and we look forward to preparing for the holidays at Carver. Look for a very important Christmas activities note that will be coming home in your child's folder tomorrow!
