Celebrating our First Week of Kindergarten!

We have completed our first week of Kindergarten and we are off to a great start!  We have had a lot of MONKEY FUN as we met new friends and learned about our new environment.
Making friends in Kindergarten is fantastic!
 Cool Monkeys!
Kindergarten is so much fun!

Today we celebrated our great week by making and eating MONKEY TAILS!
First we put a banana half on a stick.
Then we dipped it in sticky goo!
We added granola sprinkles!
We had to follow directions to get it just right!
Then they were ready for the freezer!

 They were yummy!
 Yummy!
Yummy!

Thanks to all parents for sharing your child with me!  Together, we are off to a great year! I appreciate your support and look forward to working with you and your child to make Kindergarten a terrific learning experience.

Next week, we will dive into academics as we begin working with letters, words, colors and shapes!
Be on the look out for HOMEWORK folders !  They will be coming home on Tuesday, Sept. 3 !!

Monkey Business!

We got down to business today!  Monkey Business, that is!  We have been working hard at establishing rules and routines in our classroom.  We used those today as we completed some fun activities!
Remembering the MONKEY SECRET:  If you LISTEN, you LEARN! Shhh! Don't give away our secret!
We learned about scissor rules, as we practiced cutting with our shiny new scissors.  We even had a fun song about scissors to help us cut better!
Determined monkeys!
We had to listen and follow directions to create a monkey picture!
WOW!
Monkey Masterpieces are now on display outside our classroom!

We love MONKEYS, LEARNING AND KINDERGARTEN!

1st Monkey Birthday!

Happy Birthday Emy!  Today we celebrated our first Monkey birthday in Mrs. Daily's class.  Emy turned 5 today.  We loved singing Happy Birthday to her the regular way and then the KINDERGARTEN way!  We watched her blow out the candles and then Mrs. Daily gave her a choice of a Birthday hug, a hi-five, or a "whack-a-roo"!  Emy celebrated with a Birthday HIGH FIVE!
Thanks for sharing birthday cupcakes with us, EMY!

We love celebrating birthdays in Kindergarten. If you wish, children may bring a snack or treat of your choice to share with their classmates on their birthday. Birthday Celebrations will be held in our classroom around 2:15 (the end of our school day)!

A Happy First Day!

We had a great first day of Kindergarten!  We began our day with singing and Monkey Magic!  We also met the Gingerbread Monkey that Mrs. Daily brought to school with her today.  After reading Curious George and The Gingerbread Man, we could not believe that our Gingerbread Monkey RAN away too!   We had fun looking for him as we toured our school finding monkey notes!
He left us notes and we followed his trail!

We looked and looked!
We finally found him outside!
Then we each enjoyed a part of the Gingerbread Monkey for a snack!

We also were excited to explore "centers" in our classroom!  We had fun with our new friends as we learned rules and routines of our classroom!
Having fun at the fine motor/bead center!
 Solving puzzles!
Creating with PlayDough!
 PlayDough Pals!
 Reading in the JUNGLE SPOT!
Building with Blocks!

Kindergarten is so much fun!  We can't wait until tomorrow!
