Happy Thanksgiving!

We celebrated Thanksgiving today with a feast! We enjoyed fruit, popcorn and jerky!  Yum!  We also gave thanks for all of the things that are important to us. We hope you have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

We feasted on yummy food.
 Yummy for the tummy!

We had a fun time with friends.

And most importantly, WE GAVE THANKS!

Thanks to all parents that made our feast a success by sending wonderful food items or helping us out!
We appreciate you!

I for Indians!

Today we completed our study of letter Ii with Indian fun!  We have learned many fascinating  facts about how the Indians lived and used the land for all necessary things.  We loved creating our headdresses and vests using pattern blocks and symbols. Today we strung "beads" into a patterned necklace.  We were so excited to dress as an Indian and have a pow-wow!
We took turns dancing around the campfire.
 Ki-yi-yi-yi!

We spoke in Indian sign language.
Speaking in sign language is pretty cool!
"Friends?"

Yes!  Lots of cute little Indian friends!

These little Indians are ready for Thanksgiving!

We will have a "feast" on Tuesday.  Children may bring a can of fruit or cut up fresh fruit, popcorn or beef jerky.  Any small amounts of these would be great. We appreciate your help!

Invented Instruments!

Wow!  What wonderful invented instruments appeared today! The boys and girls were so excited to show off their invented instrument for letter Ii!  Thanks to all parents who helped their son/daughter complete this fun homework project.
 Some we could drum...........
Some we could shake....
Some we could even see the "insides!"
But, we would all agree that making music with our invented instruments was lots of fun!

Itchy, Itchy Chickenpox!

Today we were all infected with itchy, itchy chickenpox for the letter Ii!  Don't be alarmed, though, as they are just Kindergarten chickenpox that wash off!  We loved hearing the story Itchy, Itchy Chickenpox.  We were relieved to hear that we do not usually get chickenpox because we have all had our Kindergarten shots.  We learned about the word contagious, too. We learned that the letter Ii is one of our vowels and we were so excited to see so many more words that we can read, like: sit, pit, mit, Tim, sip, tip, sic, and pic.
Oh my, chickenpox are contagious!
Itchy, itchy, chickenpox make you feel all twitchy!
Not so sure about these itchy spots!
Pretend Chickenpox are fun!
Learning and playing in Kindergarten is fun!

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie!

Today we had lots of cookie fun!  We ended our Letter Cc week with the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.    We first brainstormed to see what we thought would happen if we gave a mouse a cookie.  What super thinkers we turned out to be!

Check out our great answers!
After reading the story we found out what happened when you gave a mouse a cookie. He wanted some milk, then a straw and then a napkin and on and on. It was a fun story.

We then became cute mice ready to eat cookies.
We sampled a chocolate chip cookie, an oatmeal cookie and a vanilla wafer. We also had to have milk and a straw.

Then we voted on our favorite.

When the results were in our graph told us that chocolate chip cookies were the favorite.
Yummy fun at Carver!

Thanksgiving is Near!

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is only two weeks away!  We are learning about Native Americans this week but will soon learn about the Pilgrims that made their way to America and celebrated the very first Thanksgiving.

We have had fun creating art to go along with our learning!

Thanks to all who decorated a feather for our gorgeous turkeys that are in the hallway!
Even Curious George is ready for Thanksgiving!

Please remember that Carver will be having Our Annual Thanksgiving Meal in the cafeteria on Tuesday, November 19th.  Our lunch time is 12:05.  If you plan on eating lunch with your child that day, please fill out the form that will be in your child's homework folder today.   This will help the cafeteria staff prepare enough food for everyone.  Please return this form by tomorrow, if possible.
