Hard at work decorating!

"In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it.....
You'll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade......
......
I'll be the proudest fellow in the Easter parade.
On the avenue, Fifth Avenue, the photographer will snap us!"

                                   Don't we look grand!

Reading is FUN-damental!

THANK YOU RIF!
Today we were excited to have the R.I.F. ladies visit again. Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) is the nation's largest nonprofit children's literacy organization. Through RIF sponsors, here in Lockhart, each child is given a book to take home to keep forever!  All RIF programs encourage reading literacy through reading motivation, family and community involvement, and the excitement of choosing free books to keep!  Thank you RIF!

Too good to put down!
We are so excited about our new books and READING!

We Crowned a King and Queen!

Today we crowned our first Sentence King and Queen!!    Each day the leaders complete the calendar tasks and write their last names and news on the board.  We have really been working hard at writing complete sentences.  To be crowned King or Queen the students have to "master" the three sentence checkpoints!

Check one: Our sentence has to begin with a capital letter.
Check two: Our sentence has to have spaces between the words.
Check three: Our sentence has to end with a period or exclamation mark!
Way to go Mikayla and Chris!

"Wild Thing" Wednesday!

This Wednesday as we studied letter Ww, we focused our math and reading lessons on the favorite children's book, Where the Wild Things Are. We began the day by brainstorming "wild things" and what they do.We wrote a class book about Wild Things and then problem solved how to use 20 claws and 4 paper sacks to create hands and feet to become wild things. We moved to music as we "let the wild rumpus start!" Our last project was working cooperatively in groups of 4 to create a life size wild thing! The boys and girls were so proud of their  creations!

                                           "Let the wild rumpus start!"

We discovered that we can accomplish much if we work together!

                                      Our Finished Projects:
Working together is so much fun!

Texas Public School Week !

Please visit Carver during Texas Public School Week. Remember that you are invited to a continental breakfast Tuesday, March 5 from 7:30-8:15. Your child would love to have breakfast with you in the cafeteria!  Also, PE classes will be presenting A TEXAS MUSICAL on Friday, March 8.  Our performance time is 9:55-10:40.  We hope to see you there!
We love learning about our great state, T-E-X-A-S........
and all about cowboys, since many people in the United States believe that if you live in Texas you MUST be a cowboy!

We love singing and moving to "Ride That Pony"
To the front,
To the side,!
To the back! Ride, ride, ride that pony!
Yee-Haw!

Our Elegant Party!

We were so EXCITED this week as we studied the letter Ee and anticipated our ELEGANT Party! We learned that Ee is a vowel and sometimes it is "silent" in words like lake, bake, bike, and cake. We are discovering that we can read and write like EXPERTS as we continue to learn each week. We also read and learned about "elegant manners" that we wanted to be sure to use at our party! We had an EXQUISITE time!
The Elegant Party is ready for the boys and girls.
Eagerly waiting to see the "caviar" that was going to be served!
Not so sure that this would be so tasty!
Green Eggs and Ham (Kindergarten Caviar) was yummy!
And the Strawberry Fluff Parfaits were extra yummy!
We do like Kindergarten Caviar!
We were sure to use our best manners!
Time for dancing under the stars.  But many were too shy!

But soon the dancing began!

Thanks so much for dressing your child so elegantly. They looked gorgeous!

An EXQUISITE time was had by all!   Kindergarten learning can be so fun!
